As each January 6th, the Crew of the Holy Souls of White, held its traditional "leave of Souls."
This is one of the most deeply rooted traditions in White and is celebrated each year the Epiphany.
It is not known exactly when it began to be held this tradition in the town of Blanca, but has its origin in the doctrine of Purgatory, a place where the souls of the righteous who die stain of atoning for their sins are purified before being admitted to the Heaven.
The Holy Souls are the souls of the deceased who are in purgatory waiting to redeem their sins to meet God.
Las Animas crews emerged in order to help souls out of purgatory, and asked for them through "animeras couplets, stanzas of four eight-syllable verses, rhyming assonance or consonant in the second and fourth, being the first free and third.
In White, a team headed by the banner with the picture of the Virgen del Carmen, a lawyer from Purgatory, through the streets of the village during the days around Christmas, singing and playing the "animeras couplets."
The alms that are collected are used for support for the seminar, Masses for the dead and the poor.
"The leave of the Souls", as known in White, is held every January 6th.
You start singing in the chapel of "La Milagrosa" and then walk the streets near the church.
Arriving at the church, the crew, at the foot of the altar, started the "goodbye" which is sung in two parts.
The first consists of the couplets of the prayers that are the souls in Purgatory to be rescued and the second in by calling the Saints to end the suffering of these souls.
Tacando ends some "goodbye."
