The collaboration between the Community, the City Council and the Pedro Cano Foundation will allow to increase the workshops and activities in the MUCAB to continue converting it into a reference of cultural tourism
The collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment and the Cervantes Institute to work on the promotion and internationalization of Murcia creators and the dissemination of their work in these centers will start with a workshop and an exhibition of Pedro Cano in Rome, which is expected to take place in the first half of 2018.
This was announced today by the counselor Javier Celdrán, who visited different areas of Blanca as the headquarters of the Pedro Cano Foundation, located in the Museum and Art Center of Blanca (MUCAB), coinciding with the celebration of its seventh anniversary.
The Minister of Culture toured the space in the company of the painter from La Blanca and announced the collaboration between the regional government, the White City Council and the Foundation to increase the number of workshops and activities in this space.
The head of the Ministry explained that "this new agreement is part of the work undertaken by the Government to make culture more accessible to all types of public, paying special attention to students of schools and colleges and other groups of special vulnerability" .
Through these workshops, he added, "MUCAB continues to be valued, an excellent infrastructure that we want to contribute to further open society, making it a benchmark for cultural tourism thanks to its exhibitions and the rest of the programming."
After visiting the Black Center, dedicated to research and contemporary creation, and during a meeting with the local mayor, Esther Hortelano, Celdrán also addressed future joint action lines on the conservation and enhancement of the cultural and historical heritage of the city. municipality, as well as Blanca's participation in projects of the Institute of Cultural Industries and the Arts (ICA) as the Plan Scene and the Plan of Exhibition Spaces, among others.
Activities in Rome
Regarding the project that will lead Pedro Cano in Rome, the counselor advanced that "because of the close relationship with Italy of the creator from La Blanca, one of the most recognized and international of the Region, we have already made a proposal of activities to the Cervantes Institute of Italian capital among which stand out an outdoor watercolor workshop that will be developed in collaboration with other local artists, as well as a subsequent exhibition with the works produced in it. "
This project could be completed, he added, "with a program of conferences and round tables in which we are also working, with the aim of offering a broader vision of the region's culture and showing its variety and quality in the different artistic disciplines. "
Last October, the regional government signed an agreement with the Cervantes Institute "to join forces, optimize resources and continue to advance in one of the main objectives of the Ministry of Culture as it is to contribute to the internationalization of the creators of the Region and make visible the talent and culture of Murcia, "the counselor recalled.
This project will be developed through the organization of performances, exhibitions and residences in some of the 87 centers that the Cervantes Institute has in 44 countries on five continents.
Other of the first performances in which we are working from Culture are the participation of the Region of Murcia in the Beijing Contemporary Art Fair 2018, through a collective show of Murcia creators, and another project at the headquarters of the Instituto Cervantes from Manila (Philippines).
These initiatives, said Celdrán, "will also be a great opportunity to show other aspects of our culture such as gastronomy, as well as to continue working to strengthen quality, seasonally adjusted and reference tourism that has culture as one of its main pillars ".
