White Township held today the International Environment Day on the closing day of the First Fair of Environment.
The events started with a solidarity tour of the historic areas of the city like Victoria Theatre, the Castle, the Virgen Blanca or Washboard Channels.
Each participant in the route has donated nonperishable food that will go to social work.
In addition, during these three days that lasted the fair, they have mentored date palms and all proceeds will go to a campaign to combat and control the red palm weevil.
The Department of Environment and Interpretation Center of Nature, CIN, organizers of the fair, have managed to collect 300 copies of date palms to be planted by the gardening service of the City Council as well as students in schools that are participating in the activities of CIN.
This is intended to repopulate a typical spice Ricote Valley landscape that has been badly damaged in recent years by the plague of red palm weevil
