The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Thomas, signed today with Mayor White, Pedro Luis Molina, the addendum to the agreement signed between the Instituto Murciano Social Action (IMAS) and the City on the residence seniors 'Virgen de los Dolores' in the municipality.
The agreement expands the number of places available in the residence "Virgen de los Dolores, amounting to 50,293 euros in four.
These are in addition to the 39 seats of the agreement signed in December, which reflected that the IMAS earmarked 521,941 euros to the maintenance of 39 seats in the center.
Thomas Violante explained that the current agreement were found to be insufficient places initially planned, so that the extension was decided.
He also stressed "the importance of caring for the elderly in the municipality, with the aim of increasing the degree of social protection and address their needs according to the rate of population growth Blanca".
The Minister noted that "one of the priorities of the regional government is to create new residential places for elderly dependents and services according to their needs."
The Ministry Family and Equal Opportunities offers a total of 3,784 places for older people in residences and day centers.
Of these, 368 have been created this year.
In addition, according to the IMSERSO, more than 28,000 people in the region are served by the system dependence, and Murcia ranked seventh among the regions in terms of people served in relation to the population.
