The Director General of Industry, Energy and Mines, José Francisco Puche, and the Director General for Transport and Ports, Carmen Sandoval, opened today, with the mayor of White, Rafael Laorden, the public and free loan of 50 bicycles in the city , an initiative to encourage savings and promote energy efficiency and sustainable mobility.
The service has five bases in which distributed the bicycles that can be released for use automatically through an innovative joint system using a card or sending a mobile phone.
The residents of the town and visitors must register as users of the service in the Interpretation Center of Light and Water where they will receive the card and PIN user.
With this number, the user can access any of the bikes, sending an SMS through their mobile 600 124 125, indicating the number of bike, the lock on which you and your secret, or using the card MYFARE (contactless) in modules are in each of the five bases and requests data from the bike and the number of users.
To return the bike just have to hook it back to the points that have bases.
Bikes are distributed in five strategic points which are the Town Hall Square, the Museum and White Art Center, Museum and Interpretation Centre of Light and Water Sports Centre and the Mirador del Alto Bayna.
Benefits of using this public system
According to expert estimates, the use of 100 bikes for 30 kilometers a day is equivalent to saving the energy produced by the burning of 46.4 tonnes of oil per year.
Based on these data, if White service users employ all the bikes to their usual routes could prevent the emission of 0.7 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year, improving air quality and the environment.

This initiative has a budget amounting to 113,871 euros from the Ministry of Universities, Business and Research, through funds managed by the Regional Agency for Energy Management of Murcia (Argema) Strategy and Efficiency Savings Spain (E4), as well as the Ministry of Public Works and Planning in their aid to promote sustainable mobility.
White is the ninth municipality that has a bicycle rental system, after Ceutí, San Pedro del Pinatar, Los Alcazares, Alhama, San Javier, Totana, Mula and Cieza.
The University of Murcia has another, while Murcia, Puerto Lumbreras and San Javier (zone La Manga) are about to operate them.
This initiative is part of the Comprehensive Energy Efficiency and Saving the Region of Murcia developed by the Ministry of Universities, Business and Research through Argema, in collaboration with municipalities and the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDEA ), an agency under the Ministry of Industry.
