Blanca's schoolchildren have started another year, (and they are already 9 consecutive), the project 'Write to read'.
An initiative of the Municipal Consistory together with the General Council of Children and Youth Books with which the promotion of reading through writing is sought.
As every year, the project is sponsored by a writer who in this edition has fallen to the figure of Jordi Sierra i Fabra, Spanish candidate for the Andersen 2020 Prize.
The conference began on Monday 14 with a talk at the Pedro Cano Foundation, presented by Mari Carmen Martínez, who subsequently gave way to a wheel of questions in which all attendees could intervene creating a great atmosphere.
These days continued on Tuesday in front of the almost 300 schoolchildren who filled the seats of the Victoria Theater, which did not lose detail.
The act began with the intervention of the councilor of education, Paula Cano;
then, the winners of the contest were named, who read their winning stories. Later, Isabel Molina, (president of the council of the book), dedicated a few words to everyone present there and finally gave way to the proclamation of the godmother of this year.
During his speech, Jordi Sierra i Fabra said that he was “absolutely sure that in a few years, it will be a writer or writer from the municipality who has the honor to give this proclamation, and to help other children to start in the adventure of writing a story ”.
In addition, throughout the school year they will have different meetings with the godmother and they will explain the conductive threads that form their books, especially the emotional threads, and work with them on a writing project.
Until the Christmas holidays, children and young people participating in this initiative of "writing to read" will study through simple exercises guided "distance" by the writer-godmother, and in light of her work, the essential components of any literary story, while they are thinking about the type of story that they themselves would like to write.
The deadline for the presentation of his literary creations will be March 20 to conclude, as every year, on the International Day of Children and Youth Book (Hans Christian Andersen Day) that is celebrated on April 2.
That same day, the members of the Jury appointed by the City Council of Blanca and the General Council of the Book will issue the ruling.
With all the finalist stories, a book will be prepared and will be presented and distributed at the beginning of the next edition of the “Write to Read” Project, in October 2020.
