Juan Ramón Lucas Fernández, journalist with a long career in radio, television and press, and current director of the successful national program "La Brújula", Onda Cero, will be in charge of inaugurating the eighth edition of the literary literary cycle 'Río de Letras' where he will present the solidarity project 'Diario de Vida' that he has started together with his wife, the model Sandra Ibarra, who has overcome the cancer disease on two occasions.
The literary meeting will take place this Saturday, April 6, at 6 pm at the Pedro Cano Foundation, with free admission until full capacity is reached.
Diary of life is not a book to use.
Is much more.
An innovative project, one hundred percent solidary, which aims to give voice to cancer survivors.
The narrations of pain and firmness, of adversity and enthusiasm of those who overcame the illness like Ana, Cristina, Alfredo or Mateo-, are inspiring.
Their shared testimonies have the virtue of serving as an example to those who spend today where they passed, but also of encouragement for all those to whom adversity has snatched the desire to move forward.
They were days of interviews and dozens of weeks of subsequent work so active and intense that they ended up changing even those who participated in the project.
Because, as revealed in the prologue Sandra Ibarra, example of survival "to live and listen to the stories of patients reconciles with the human being, so capable of the best and the worst, it makes live a thousand lives in one and amplify the one we have "
The expression of the deepest feelings of those who intervene in this book, gives it an exceptional value.
Because it is written in first person and born with the will to be useful to others.
Sandra Ibarra Foundation
The book 'Diario de Vida' was born within the Sandra Ibarra Foundation, of Solidarity Against Cancer.
A foundation that has been financing scholarships for ten years and encouraging public campaigns to tackle cancer with positivity and rigor, not only from the clinical or scientific point of view, but also socially, encouraging the media to banish the language of war, which administrations public organizations develop the humanization in healthcare and that professional organizations of doctors are open to debate and the opinion of patients.
Juan Ramón Lucas is part of the Board of the Foundation of which he is, in addition, general secretary.
His professional work has been recognized with two Ondas Awards, one of them throughout his career, a Television Academy Award as best presenter, and Microphone and Antena de Oro for some of the radio programs he has launched.
It has many recognitions and social and cultural awards throughout the Spanish geography.
Sandra Ibarra is a model.
He has overcome 2 leukemias and has been fighting cancer for more than 25 years.
Since she was diagnosed for the first time of acute lymphoblastic leukemia, Sandra Ibarra claims the character and value of "survivor" and has not stopped publicly committing herself to spreading a positive message, taking advantage of the notoriety of her social projection.
It is an accurate reference of determination and optimism.
The image and message of Sandra Ibarra is a symbol and encouragement to move forward.
He transmits his message with serenity and conviction, banishing the war terminology to demystify the disease: "Things do not hurt us, but the idea that we have of things".
For Sandra Ibarra to overcome cancer was a double personal victory;
today, it has become a multiple vital objective.
She overcame cancer twice, now she works daily so that we can all listen, as she says, "The magic words: cancer can be cured."
Sandra Ibarra quoted Paulo Coelho - who collaborates with her Foundation - to affirm that she has turned solidarity against cancer into her Personal Legend.
Cancer prevented her from completely developing her vocation as a model and communicator, but not using the tools of both professions to convey her message with a precise and well-used language, using her presence to underline the importance of the physical care of patients: " The principle of physical carelessness is the principle of emotional neglect. "
Tenacious, hardworking and with a huge strength of mind, decided in March 2008 to professionalize all these communication efforts for years through collaborations, conferences, meetings and articles, creating the Sandra Ibarra Foundation for Solidarity Against Cancer.
