The Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works and Land Management has awarded the contract for upgrading the RM-553 highway, which connects the town of White Albacete-Cartagena motorway A-30, the performance will improve safety roads and road communications which circulate this year about 1.5 million vehicles.
The Director of Roads, Jose Guijarro, explained that "the preparation of this road will increase road safety by allowing a more flexible and fluid movements to the more than 1.5 million vehicles on a year by this route that connects the town Blanca with Albacete-Cartagena motorway, A-30. "
The works will include construction of an additional lane for slow traffic along 630 meters of this road you pass every year nearly 50,000 goods vehicles.
The stretch of action is located in an area of continuous rise with five tight bends, so the new lane will solve the slowing of traffic.
Jose Guijarro said "through this action will be handicapped ramp overtaking, which always results in an additional complication, and thus contribute to reducing road accidents, which, in the Region of Murcia has been reduced by 50 percent in the last two years, "
The director general said that "the preparation of this pathway, has a budget of 171,100 euros, is part of the Conservation Plan of roads in the Region of Murcia, which aims to improve the safety of the routes, giving priority to actions in those points that are most in need. "
