Rafael Laorden accessibility wins the hand of the Queen (04/03/2009)

This prize is awarded by the Ministry of Education and Science, through the Royal Board on Disability

The Mayor of the town of Blanca, Rafael Carrasco Laorden has gathered this morning at the Palacio de la Zarzuela, the Reina Sofia Award Municipalities Universal Accessibility in the category up to ten thousand inhabitants.

Her Majesty Queen Sofia Queen has been commissioned to give the mayor the award, the Royal Board on Disability, was granted last November.

White already has the Queen Sofia Prize.

Laorden Rafael Carrasco, mayor of White Hall, has gathered this morning at the Palacio de la Zarzuela, the Reina Sofia Award Municipalities Universal Accessibility in the category up to ten thousand inhabitants.

Her Majesty Queen Sofia Queen has been commissioned to deliver Laorden the award, the Royal Board on Disabilities, the Ministry of Education and Science, awarded in November last year.

These awards recognize the continued work for at least five years in the universal accessibility of persons with disabilities to the physical environment, education, leisure, culture, sport, transport, tourism and new technologies.

The prize, awarded by the Ministry of Education and Science, through the Royal Board on Disability, carries a cash prize amounting to the amount of 15,000 €, financed at 50 per 100 by the Royal Board on Disability and the Foundation ACS.

The Royal Board on Disability awarded the municipality of Murcia this distinction by presenting a comprehensive and advanced in the proceedings, with a dedication imaginative in different areas, setting in motion an initiative of respite care, and measures from the Accessibility Plan Hall.

The Board noted in its report the activity of the local employment center because it proposes the integration of all people with disabilities into the regular work system and promotes use of the same through agreements with the Labour Integration Service.

It also provides care for domestic, social, psychological support and rehabilitation through the Home Help Service.

The ceremony of the symbols of the Reina Sofia Award attended also by HM The Queen, the Minister of Education and Science, Mercedes Cabrera and Secretary of State for Social Policy, Amparo Valcarce.

In addition to the towns of White, Avila and Elche, municipalities awarded for their accessibility, have collected their awards, with respect to the Reina Sofia Award for Prevention of disability, José María Fraga, the Clinical Hospital of Santiago de Compostela and the Association ASCATED Guatemala.
