The Pedro Cano Foundation celebrates its seventh anniversary with special activities together with the white painter (06/11/2017)

The Pedro Cano de Blanca Foundation celebrates its seventh anniversary this week with a program that includes exhibitions, a drawing contest, lectures and a painting demonstration.

The free activities have been organized by the Foundation in collaboration with the City Council of Blanca, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Environment and the Cajamurcia Foundation.

The general director of the Institute of Cultural Industries and the Arts, Marta López-Briones, attended today the presentation of the new program with Pedro Cano;

the Mayoress of Blanca, Esther Hortelano;

and the director of the Foundation, Mari Carmen Sánchez-Rojas.

López-Briones highlighted "the great work done by those responsible for the Pedro Cano Foundation, with the painter at the head, to bring culture to an audience of all ages through activities."

In addition, he said that "this magnificent space is one of the most important centers dedicated to contemporary art in the region, in which the work of one of our most recognized and international artists is preserved".

Throughout the year, he added, "the Foundation opens its doors to other creators, with special attention to the youngest, so they can show their work in different exhibitions and, this time, will also recover part of the story of Blanca with a original proposal ".

In addition, "it will pay special attention to people with disabilities thanks to its increasingly popular drawing contest."

This year to celebrate the anniversary includes an intervention by the School of Dramatic Arts of Murcia around the career and works of Pedro Cano.

It will be on Wednesday, November 8 (7:30 pm) and will be coordinated by Elvira Carrión and Sonia Murcia.

Also on November 9 (7:30 pm) will be a talk on one of the favorite themes of the popular painter: travel.

In it, the public will visit Pedro Cano the Greek island of Patmos, where he recently held a painting course with students from around the world.

Likewise, the photographic exhibition 'Vivan los novios ... de Blanca' has been prepared, in which photographs, dresses and old objects dating from the 70s, donated by the people of Blanqueños, are collected, through which we invite you to remember one of the most important days in the life of many local residents.

The inauguration will be Friday, November 10, at 7:30 p.m.

As every year, the Pedro Cano Foundation has organized the 'Drawing Contest for people with disabilities' and on Saturday, November 11 (12:00 hours), the works will be exhibited and the prizes and diplomas will be given to the participants.

To close the special program, on Sunday morning, starting at 12:00 hours, Pedro Cano will make a natural painting demonstration and draw the work he creates live among the Friends of the Museum who attend.

You can get more information about all activities through the website www.fundacionpedrocano.es.
