Family increases by 27% the amount for Social Services in Blanca (17/01/2017)

The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, met today in the White City Hall with the mayor, Esther Hortelano, to analyze the total allocation that the Community for Social Services of this municipality, which has increased more than one 27 percent, going from 52,735 euros last year to more than 67,387 euros for this year.

The Primary Care Social Services constitute the first level of care and include the Service of Information, Assessment and Advice to the population in terms of rights and social resources;

Service of Care in the Family and Community Environment, which aims to provide social, domestic, psychological, rehabilitation and socio-educational support;

Social Insertion Service and the Service of Promotion and Social Cooperation.

Old residence 'Virgen de Los Dolores'

In addition, they visited the residence of seniors 'Virgen de Los Dolores', which has a grant of 484,000 euros from the Ministry to subsidize 43 concerted places.

Last year, the Murcian Institute of Social Action (IMAS) and the City Council signed an addendum relating to this residence by which the number of available places was increased by four, for an amount of 50,293 euros.

Violante Tomás explained that, "after verifying that the places initially planned were insufficient, the extension was decided".

Likewise, the Minister highlighted "the importance of caring for elderly people in the municipality, with the objective of increasing the degree of social protection and meeting needs according to the rate of population growth of Blanca."

As for the Day Center service of the municipality, has a provision of 227,027 euros for the 25 seats agreed.

This service includes the support service, which implies that older people do not have to pay.

The services provided by the Community in this municipality are completed by the Tele-Assistance Service, which has 55 users.

New residential squares

The minister said that "one of the priority objectives of the regional government is to create new residential places for dependent older people and services according to their needs."

Thus, last year was created up to 647 new places for seniors, so that the current offer is 4,095.

This year, the social centers of older people will also be open during the weekends.
